The Photographer
Photography has become much more than a hobby for me—it is a way of experiencing the natural world. I am continually drawn to places where light, weather, and landscape come together to create moments that exist for only a few minutes. Whether I’m standing on the rim of Crater Lake before sunrise, waiting for alpenglow on Mount Rainier, or watching waves roll beneath a coastal lighthouse, my goal is to capture the beauty that nature provides rather than create something that never existed.
I specialize in landscape and nature photography throughout the American West and Pacific Northwest. Many of my photographs begin long before I press the shutter. I spend hours researching locations, studying topographic maps, monitoring weather forecasts, checking tide charts, and calculating the position of the sun and moon. It’s not unusual for me to camp nearby so I can be in position well before dawn or stay until the last light of sunset fades.
My approach to post-processing is intentionally restrained. I believe a photograph should faithfully represent the experience of being there while allowing careful adjustments that reveal the beauty already present in the scene. My goal is to create images that are both visually compelling and authentic.
When I’m not behind the camera, I enjoy exploring national parks, discovering new scenic locations, and continually learning new techniques to improve both my fieldcraft and photographic vision.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I hope these photographs inspire you to explore, appreciate, and help preserve the remarkable landscapes that make our natural world so extraordinary.
